Make a Gift to Friends of the Carver/IDEA

Friends of the Carver/IDEA, established by former San Antonio Spur David Robinson, became a supporting organization of the San Antonio Area Foundation in 2014. Its mission is to assist with scholarships primarily to the Friends of the Carver/IDEA Academy students as well as funding for organizations that will sustain and elevate educational standards, reduce the number of students who fail to graduate from high school, and to increase the number of high school graduates who are prepared to enter college.

David Robinson said to the Rivard Report in 2016: “I think this is a big moment for San Antonio, just in our efforts as a city to grow and to improve education for young people. Partnering with IDEA has been a phenomenal experience. We must have strong students and strong schools to use the tremendous resources at our fingertips. We have a big gap to fill in preparing our students at the fourth-grade level for what’s ahead of them. We’ve got to have the continuity coming from the lower grades to prepare them to graduate and to succeed in college.”
